Pengalaman: Sistem Pendidikan Malaysia

Apa komen anda tentang sistem pendidikan Malaysia? Aku kurang pengalaman mengenai sistem pendidikan Malaysia semasa sekolah rendah. Hanya ketika darjah 1, 2 dan suku darjah 6.

Yang pasti aku ingat, darjah 1 kena suntik kat bontot, semasa belajar Matematik semua orang kena berdiri atas meja dan kalau tak dapat jawab sifir, tak duduk lah kau! Kalau buat salah, cikgu cubit kat perut (clockwise turn).

Maklumlah, nak naik pentas, kena no 1, 2, 3. Other than that, tak merasalah jawabnya!

I dont feel school is that much fun if you're not that fully bright.

Semangat wo cari Drawing Block. Tengok2 bila sampai kat sekolah, cikgu lain masuk dan suruh buat latih tubi. Latih tubi modul untuk UPSR. Aish! Agak memberontak lah jiwa kacau aku waktu itu. Aku nak merasa la camna belajar pendidikan seni kat Malaysia. At least aku boleh compare lukisan aku darjah 1 dengan darjah 6. Kalau darjah 1, rumah banyak mana tingkat pun, msti maintain ada 2 tingkap dan satu pintu pada setiap tingkat, matahari pula celah bukit.

From June till September, all I knew was exam and exam. 4 major exams in 4 months. Bila habis UPSR, peperiksaan akhir tahun pula. Nasib baik dapat nombor 1. Weee. Naik pentas!

Since I learned science through textbooks and the front cover was a heavenly-school that portrayed  Taman Sains with rabbits and such, it stimulated me for this particular kind of respond: Hari pertama sampai sekolah tu, aku tengok macam ada pokok2 dan kolam kat satu kawasan tu. I was like, "wah.. taman sains!!". Agak2 ada tak rabbit ye. As days went by, I realised the cover of the textbook was a total LIE! Btw, if u know a school that really has that kind of facility, do tell me ya.

Antara elemen yang buat aku tak puas hati dengan sistem pendidikan Malaysia ialah, jawapan perlu ikut skima. Ada soalan sains semasa pra percubaan. Soalan 1. Tentang tekanan dan gambarnya adalah kapal terbang. Saya tengok wah! Ive been in it, so I would be able to answer it. Ada soalan, tentang pemerhatian bila kapal terbang tu naik tinggi. I answered, "telinga saya berdengung sakit". Dan jawapan tu salah! Serius, aku rasa sia-sia pengalaman naik kapal terbang tu.

Btw, I actually wanted to right a non-bias view of the education system in Malaysia. But seems that I am more on criticizing it. Well, I just hope, primary school in Malaysia means more fun, not focus on exams only, and give freedom for students in answering questions. Let them think out of the box!

I will be writing about my experience with UK's education system after this :-)

Salam Nadhirah,

I just feel like clarifying some facts and my personal opinions which I think is important to highlight.

I used to experience UK edu system to, tho it wasnt that long (3 years) during primary school. But then i came back to malaysia and went to normal school here. i dont like it at first, but i was able to adapt fast and everything came naturally.

i cant deny that UK edu system is very fun and joyful, we went to school to play and anticipated what the teacher would ask us to do. everything was fun fun fun and like you said, exams were rare back then so there was basically nothing to be worried.

but d'ya know that malaysia has one of the best edu systems in the world? the system is quite burdening for students, no doubt. students are pressured bcos of the exams and whatnots but thats normal. everyone wants to excel, anyway. and success doesnt come without hard work.

i've nothin against you, but i just don't really keen on the way you criticized (sorry, but i can't find any other better word) on malaysian edu system. frankly, i am so glad i came back to study in malaysia, otherwise i dont know what would i end up as if i've stayed there.

be proud of our edu system, there are rooms for improvement, of course. but for now, it's not that bad, ain't it? :)

thnk u for ure comment though i would be more pleased if it is not anonymous :-)

to me we have different view of percept things and tht is influenced by our experience.

in my prsonal view, its just much better for kids to have fun in school as they are kids and give them room to explore things. and yes, exams make people strive hard but in the uk, tht kind of approach only comes when the student enter scndry school.

seriously, i pity kids of having stress and low self esteem due to low performance in school and parents having them going to extra classes and tuitions. it is too much for them to cope.

however, everyhting has its own pros and cons. so, hope Malaysia can give rooms for improvement and also try to sperate eduction with politcl issues.

again, i thank u for ure honest comment and would love to hear ure own experience and exchange thoughts regarding UK and Msia edu system as I believe the schools there have their own style and approach in teaching.
